Studio Newborn Sessions
Newborn sessions usually take place within the first 5 days after your baby is born. Many photographers advertise "Fresh-48" Sessions which take place within 48 hours after the baby is born. I have nothing against it, but I guess I am a little old fashioned. While baby is sleepiest during the first 2 days of life, making it easier on us to pose your sweet little bundle, I like to give parents a moment longer to catch their breath and start to acclimate to this new way of life. I am happy to provide a session any time after the baby's first full day at home with mom and dad, and firmly believe that the first 5 days give us enough time to capture those sweet sleepy moments you will cherish for years to come!
Older Babies
You may be concerned that you have missed the "optimal age" for newborn photos. Don't worry! We have worked with families with new babies up to 2 months of age that, for one reason or another, just missed out on the newborn photo opportunity. In our studio, we just adjust our posing and follow the baby's lead as we go. Yes, we do change up our approach a bit, often newborn baskets get too small rather quickly, but we are confident we can provide an environment that will give you the best opportunity for beautiful photos of your new little one. Let's chat about how to create a session you will love and treasure!
Choices to Fit Your Vision:
If your tastes tend towards clean, simple photography with minimal props, we've got you covered! With a variety of simple backdrops and a growing closet of studio clothing, both for Moms and babies, we can style a classic session to fit your vision. We take time with every client to consult and determine how to best prepare for your session. We can help with outfit inspiration and coordination for families as well, if desired. And during our consultation, we will take time to focus your goals for how you plan to use your images.
Creative Backdrops and Brainstorming Sessions
If you love themed sessions, we have an ever-growing variety of backdrops, wraps, headbands and jewelry for your little one to use in her first photo shoot. AND we have some super cute items specifically for little boys.
A few weeks prior to your due date, we have our official consultation to develop a vision for your newborn's photo session, and this is where we will firm up our plan for our time together. Some things that help us narrow that down are Mom and Dad's personal tastes in newborn photography, what your family's individual interests, talents, hobbies and occupations are, and how you plan to use your finished photos. Do you have a spot in the nursery you'd like a nice canvas? Do you plan to mail out Birth Announcements with some of your photos? Do you have interest in prints or a coffee table book with images from your session? All are factors in creating a portrait experience you will treasure, and that has been personally and specifically designed for your family and your new little one. We will work together ahead of time so that the day of your session, we just get to enjoy the baby!
Safety Matters!
You can rest assured that as a Mom and Grandma myself, there is nothing I want more than to keep your baby safe from harm while in my studio. Babies' little spines and joints are delicate and vulnerable, and it is important not to place undue stretch or strain on them during a photo session. You will find that my newborn posing is more traditional than trendy, keeping the safety and comfort of your baby in the forefront of my mind. I also have additional heat sources for use in the studio as needed to keep baby cozy and warm. That combined with comfy seating and for soothing or feeding your little one, and a warm and quiet environment to rest in provide an environment ready for babies to feel safe and comforted.
Pricing & Packages
Newborn Studio Session
$ 350
A relaxed 2-3 hour time slot in my studio where we have prepared an environment for baby to rest and cuddle and smile for the camera. We usually plan for 3 changes of clothing and multiple settings and poses of baby + a couple BONUS shots with family.
Newborn Lifestyle Session
$350
A 45 to 60 minute session in your home capturing sweet interaction between family members and the new baby. Posing is light and minimal, one outfit is recommended, perhaps two for baby, and I will help with wardrobe and lighting ideas.
Studio + Lifestyle Complete
$600
The most complete story of your new little one, combining both a styled studio session and candid lifestyle photoshoot at home. We recommend booking each session on seperate days, within a week of one another.
