Maternity: The beginning of an epic journey!

Becoming a mother is one of the greatest journeys a woman embarks upon in her lifetime. It is a wonderful opportunity filled with excitement and anticipation, laughter and tears, and rewards of the heart that surpass anything we could possibly imagine. Here at T. Lyn Photography, we love to document each step of the the journey right alongside you. Keep reading to learn about our packages and pricing available to expectant Moms and their families.

A great time to schedule your maternity session is around 28 to 32 weeks into your pregnancy. Most mommas are feeling their best during this time frame. Your maternity wardrobe is flattering your developing baby tummy, and you are likely feeling more rested and less nauseous than during the first few months of your pregnancy.

Maternity sessions can be photographed either in our studio, or at an outdoor location of your choice. We have photographed couples during every season, indoors and out, with beautiful results.

Fall and winter sessions are exceptionally pretty, especially when we catch the peaks of the leaves changing, or just after a fresh fallen snow. Scheduling outdoor sessions like these can take a bit of flexibility as we wait on optimal conditions, but they are always worth it!

Including family pets in your maternity session is a super fun option as well. This little pup almost stole the show! (Wait til you see him at their Newborn Session...he ought to be a model!)

Telling Your Story

Many couples choose to let their session location and theme tell a story about who they are as a growing family. Ask yourself a few questions... Are we most comfortable in the country? Do we want to include animals and display our farm life? If you are city dwellers, perhaps you love certain architectural features or parks in or near your town? Maybe Mom or Dad are as a fireman or EMT, and you'd like to include some shots at the station. You get the idea. Creating a storybook of pictures is also an option for Maternity Sessions. Let's brainstorm some ideas together!

Fall Flowers Make a Beautiful Backdrop

If you don't particularly have a theme in mind, but the prime dates for your Maternity Session are in the fall, you have a vast array of opportunities to choose from. Many varieties of flowers are still stunning in August, including fragrant lavender fields! In September, the sunflower fields are in bloom, and in October the leaves on the trees turn into a blaze of color! All are gorgeous backdrops for any type of session, maternity included.

Motherhood Studio mini Sessions

This streamlined portrait experience features simple backdrops, clean lines, minimal props and an elegant, art-like finished product. Minis can include formal pics with Daddy and other little ones in the family, but due to their short time-frame, do not work as well with reluctant models. These sessions run 20 minutes in length, and if children are of the age to follow simple instruction (to a degree, not expecting perfection!) these Minis are appropriate for the family. I keep the studio warm for little ones, and safety is also a priority.

Traditional Maternity Sessions

If you would like a greater variety of poses, settings or backdrops, or would like to have your Maternity Session outdoors, this is 45-60 minutes with Dad and siblings and pets (if desired) is the one for you! We will consult together to refine your vision and goals, discussing locations, outfits and final products you'd like to order. The longer session length is helpful for larger families or those who envision a combination of posed and candid images. If you or your kids are camera-shy, no worries. This is a low-key, precious time together collecting priceless memories. These sessions are laid-back and fun, and a great way to document this phase of your growing family.

The Complete Maternity Experience

Choosing this package gives you the best of both experiences. We recommend using the Mini Session to focus just on Mom and the baby to come, and the Traditional Session to include all the family. In this way, you get a complete package of memories. In addition to the digital images and matted prints, clients receive both an 8"x8" Keepsake Album with 5 spreads (10 pages) AND a 3"x3" Accordion Mini Album.
