Newborn Photography


Newborn photos come in many forms. Some photographers specialize in accompanying you throughout delivery. While I have been honored to accompany close friends during the births of their babies, (and can I just say what a miraculous and wondrous event it is!?!) I have chosen not to specialize in this type of photography. I like to wait for a few days after delivery to introduce baby to the camera. The first 2 weeks is great, but about 5 to 14 days is perfect. And sometimes, the little ones barely know I am there. I offer a few different types of sessions for families with newborns.

Newborn Studio Sessions

A Studio Session includes formal pics of your little one and a few with Mommy as well. These usually take 2-3 hours to allow plenty of time for consoling, nursing, changing clothes, and hopefully napping, and they take place in my studio. Don't worry, I keep it warm enough for little ones, and safety is a priority here as well. We will discuss color scheme, outfits, and desired backdrops approximately a month prior to your scheduled delivery date so that we are all prepared when the baby arrives!


Newborn Lifestyle Sessions

Some families opt for a lifestyle session in their home. This is 45-60 minutes with Dad and siblings and pets all gathered around your new arrival! We will work together before the baby comes to discuss clothing and atmosphere so that when the time comes, it is a low-key, precious time together collecting priceless memories. These sessions are laid-back in that there is minimal posing involved. I will coach you some, and help get the backdrop and lighting the way it should be, but I love just to see families interacting with their newborn. It is just such a precious time. (Ummm....have I mentioned how precious it is yet?!)


The Complete Package for Newborns

But I want both!!! By scheduling both a Newborn Studio Session and Newborn Lifestyle Session during baby's first week at home, you get complete package of memories. It is a popular option, and includes two fantastic keepsake albums from your sessions. The accordion album is desk- or purse-sized (3"x3") and the other is coffee-table or display shelf worthy at 8"x8". The Complete Package for Newborns it is a valuable investment in keeping sweet memories fresh for a lifetime.
